VIRGINIA Beach Rentals for this Summer

Below are our current Virginia Beach Rentals for this Summer.  Most of these rentals coincide with Events or Festivals taking place at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront.  Although we’re still in the throes of Winter, it’s never to early to start thinking about and planning Summer vacations.  Beach vacations are the most popular vacation destinations during the Summer.

There are so many fantastic activities, things to see and do, and enjoyable dining opportunities that you can park your car for the week.  I have been a life long resident of the area.  If you need ideas for your stay at the beach, contact us.  We would be happy to share ideas and give suggestions.

Check out our available Virginia Beach Rentals for this Summer and follow the provided links for the event or festival that takes place during that period.  If you always choose to go during one particular time of the year, try a different time and enjoy a new event or festival.

Our rentals include all taxes and lodging fees.  There will be no additional charges.

**Note: These are 7-Night Rentals. I do not have any nightly rates for  weekends only.

OUTER Banks Travel Guide

I guess I’m not the only one that’s thinking about Summer vacations at the beach.  Today in my inbox, I received the Outer Banks Travel Guide.   It’s available online or a hard copy can be ordered and mailed to you.  Check out the Outer Banks Travel Guide and start planning.

Whether you’re a long-time visitor to the Outer Banks or discovering these beautiful North Carolina shores for the first time, the Outer Banks Travel Guide is a great way to get started on those upcoming vacation plans.

I have been visiting the Outer Banks for 50 years.  I have very fond memories of time spent with my grandparents exploring, fishing, swimming and discovering all the Outer Banks has to offer from Corolla to Ocracoke Island.

I lot has changed on the Northern Outer Banks since those early days.   It never gets old.  There are more “four season” opportunities for things to see and do, whether it’s fall on the shore or full-on Summer.

Check out the Outer Banks Travel Guide and start planning your getaway or vacation today.  We offer timeshare rentals from Duck to Nags Head in fully-equipped condos, which sleep from four up to ten in some units.   Please check out our blog for resort descriptions and pictures, posts on things to do and see and ask questions from a long-time explorer of the Outer Banks.

Beachwoods, Kitty Hawk; High Dunes Condominiums, Kill Devil Hills; Dunes South, Nags Head; Outer Banks Beach Club, Kill Devil Hills; Barrier Island’s Ocean Pines and Barrier Island Station, Duck are timeshare resorts offering accommodations in fully-equipped condominiums with on-site amenities.

NATIONAL Parks

Our National Parks are a true national treasure.  We have had the good fortune to visit many of the National Parks over the years.  Most were enjoyed as a family.  We’re so happy that our sons were able to experience these National Parks with us.

Living in Virginia all my life, my first experience in a National Park was during my childhood when my family visited Shenandoah National Park in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains.  My grandparents set the stage for me, at an early age, visiting many areas.   Road trips to Kansas, where my mother’s family lived are fond memories.  The second National Park that I got the opportunity to explore was Smoky Mountain National Park near Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

Early in our marriage, Steve and I enjoyed a wonderful timeshare vacation at Massanutten Resort, located near Shenandoah National Park. Today, we can laugh about a hiking experience we had during that visit.  We went hiking one early afternoon on a trail.  There were two trails, a red trail and a blue trail.  I guess that we didn’t realize  at the time the repercussions for not paying attention.  Instead of getting on the “loop” hiking trail back to our vehicle, we got on the Appalachian Trail.  You know; the hiking trail that stretches from Maine to Georgia.

We were enjoying our time together, on a vacation in the great outdoors, prior to starting our family.  Hey, a great life lesson and something to chuckle and talk about years later. 🙂

Since that time, we started our family and have since visited many more National Parks with our twin sons.  They just turned 21 this past New Year’s Eve.  We’ve had many great experiences over the years in the National Parks.

We shared Shenandoah National Park with them early on, staying at  Massanutten Resort, using it as a home base for many great visits to the Park, and other great sites and activities nearby.  One Winter, we visited Massanutten Resort during the week between Christmas and New Year’s in order to celebrate some family time during winter break and the boys’ birthday.  It was my first time skiing.  It was their first time snowboarding.

Other National Parks that we have visited include Yosemite, Glacier, Yellowstone, Bryce Canyon, Zion, North and South Rims of the Grand Canyon, Everglades, Death Valley and Acadia.

We are greatly anticipating our upcoming visits to two National Parks that we have never visited.  This February, we will be in the Florida Keys and plan to visit Dry Tortugas National Park.  In June, we are heading for Hawaii for our first visit to these Pacific Islands. We will be visiting Volcano National Park during our week-long stay on the Big Island.

BEACHWOODS Resort Rentals

My excitement is building for my upcoming stay at Beachwoods in Kitty Hawk for the OBX Taste of the Beach.  I just purchased my first event tickets to Trio’s Chef’s 6-Course Wine Dinner.  It will be held on one night only and is limited to 12.  We didn’t want to miss out on this event since we’re fans of Trio and Wine Dinners.

Great Four Day Event! Over 60 Events! Fun, Food & Drink!

We will be staying at Beachwoods during the week of this four-day event on the Outer Banks.  It will be nice to see what progress is taking place at the resort.  Construction and remodeling had already started when we were there last November for the Gold Key Resorts’ presentation for Beachwoods.

We have another unit available for rent for this week at a great rate, as well as other dates throughout this upcoming Summer.  For more information on Beachwoods, please see our web page and blog posts on this premier Outer Banks resort.

BEACHWOODS Video Presentation by Gold Key Resorts

As some of you may know, the former Barrier Island Station Kitty Hawk on the Northern Outer Banks was purchased last year by Gold Key Resorts of Virginia Beach.

Gold Key Resorts offered owners the opportunity to attend a presentation at the resort last November.  It was a coordinated and well-run presentation that gave owners the opportunity to learn about issues confronting Barrier Island Station, the vision of Gold Key Resorts, and the future for owners at the resort.

This will be “the” premier resort on the Outer Banks.  The Gold Key Resorts’ vision is for a Four Season Resort.   The planning includes new and upgraded amenities that will allow owners and guests to enjoy Beachwoods any time of year.

Gold Key Resorts has dramatically changed the landscape of the Virginia Beach oceanfront, where this group is headquartered.  With much anticipation, as owners at Beachwoods, we welcome and look forward to the changes taking place in Kitty Hawk.

As would be expected, Gold Key Resorts had the forethought to film their presentation for those owners that could not attend.  It was an exciting and eye-opening day.  Below is a link to their presentation.

THE FLORIDA Keys in Winter

Need a warm place to visit this Winter to give yourself a break from the cold?  Looking for paradise without leaving the continental U.S.? The Florida Keys in Winter is a great respite from the freezing temperatures.

http://www.flkeystoday.com/

TripAdvisor lists the top  things to do in the Florida Keys.

http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g34340-Activities-Florida_Keys_Florida.html

We hope to check a few of these out during our upcoming trip to Islamorada.  The #1 Thing to do is Dry Tortugas National Park, 70 miles west of Key West.

http://www.nps.gov/drto/index.htm

When we were in the Florida Keys in Winter last year, this is something that we attempted to do.  However, we decided to do this last minute and were unable to secure the reservations we wanted for the seaplane to the Park.  It will be an expensive half day adventure. The alternative transportation to the Park would be the ferry.  The seaplane is a 40 minute narrated ride with viewing opportunities not available from the ferry.  The ferry would reqire five hours total travel time.  We’re going to cut costs on some other things.  The seaplane service sounds like a great experience.  One of our favorite vacation destinations is any US National Park.  We’ve had the good fortune to visit many of them.  This is one that we want to visit.  It is “home to the magnificent Fort Jefferson,  picturesque blue waters, superlative coral reefs and marine life,  and the vast assortment of bird life that frequent the area.”

If you’re looking for accommodations for your Florida Keys in the Winter, we have two great weeks available in a two bedroom, fully-equipped condo in Marathon.  Marathon is located in the middle Keys with a great central location for travel either north or south, Marathon Key Beach Club is a nice timeshare resort, located on the water with great onsite amenities.  Please follow our the link below for more information and pictures.  These weeks are $1295 total per week.

OBX Taste of the Beach 2015 Lodging

http://obxtasteofthebeach.com/

We haven’t nailed anything down yet for events during OBX Taste of the Beach 2015.  A few more events have been listed.

We are all set with time off from our respective jobs and have our accommodations for the this great four day event.  We secured a couple of reservations for Sunday, March 15 through Sunday, March 22, 2015 at the Beachwoods Four Season Outer Banks Resort by Gold Key Resorts.

Gold Key Resorts of Virginia Beach, Virginia purchased the former Barrier Island Station Kitty Hawk late last year.  I have shared information in posts, as well as pictures, about what is taking place on the Outer Banks.  As a Gold Key Resorts timeshare owner in Virginia Beach for the past several years, and being familiar with this Group’s presence in the area where I live; I was very excited to learn of this purchase.  I attended their owners’ presentation back in November and was quite thrilled with the plans for the resort and the look of the newly remodeled units.  Beachwoods will be a premier resort on the Outer Banks once everything has been completed.  It is anticipated that all units will have been renovated, with most of the amenities completed by May 2015.  The new indoor water park and features are anticipated to be completed by Winter, 2016.

We look forward to staying in a newly renovated unit this coming March while attending events for the OBX Taste of the Beach 2015.  We have availability at Beachwoods in a one bedroom/two bathroom unit, full kitchen, accommodating up to four for the week of March 15-22, 2015.

Please see our blog posts and resort description under North Carolina Resorts for more information and pictures.

Taphouse Bar and Grille, Virginia Beach

http://www.dineinvb.com/restaurants/11th-street-taphouse-bar-grille/

One of my favorite places to get out and go to, during most any season of the year, is the Virginia Beach oceanfront.  There are many great dining choices from cheap eats to fine dining.  I always try to take advantage of Restaurant Week in the surrounding cities where I live.  It affords a great opportunity to try out new dining experiences and great food or return to a favorite and catch a break on pricing for a three-course meal.  Many of the restaurants offer both lunch and dinner options during Restaurant Week.

I’m trying to narrow down my options for the upcoming Restaurant Week at the oceanfront.  I was just checking out the Virginia Beach Restaurant Week menu for Taphouse Bar and Grille at the Virginia Beach oceanfront.  This is only the first menu that I have looked at.  I would like to try some new options…..just to broaden my experiences.  I will keep looking, but the Taphouse Bar and Grille has a very tempting menu.  This is a favorite of mine at the Virginia Beach oceanfront.

Get out and try something or somewhere new.  Virginia Beach Restaurant Week is a great opportunity to do just that.
